The Black Friday Cyber Crime Economy: Surge in Fraudulent Domains and eCommerce Scams

Check Point Research warns that cybercriminals are aggressively exploiting the Black Friday shopping surge by registering large numbers of fraudulent, holiday-themed domains. Their data shows a sharp uptick in Black Friday related website with about 1 in 11 newly registered domains in this period classified as malicious. Brand impersonation is a key tactic: many of these sites mimic platforms like Amazon, AliExpress, and Alibaba, and even specific brands such as HOKA. Recreating logs, layouts, and product imagery to make fake storefronts appear believable.

Analyst Comments: It is important to stay safe during the Black Friday surge in scams by slowing down and reviewing online deals before clicking and purchasing. The biggest red flags include newly created or oddly spelled website domains and unusually steep discounts. Checking URL’s carefully, reviewing the quality of page, the HTTPS, could help avoid a scam. Shoppers may consider avoiding entering payment information or unfamiliar sites. Using security tools like browser-based phishing protection and keeping devices updated adds another layer of protection. REMOVE THE REGIME Rally/March – Washington, DC Nov 22

“Remove the Regime” is a multi-day, peaceful demonstration organized by the Removal Coalition, scheduled for November 20–22, 2025, centered in Washington, D.C. The event’s goal is to demand the impeachment and removal of Donald J. Trump, whom organizers accuse of undermining democracy and committing “actual treason.”  Participants will include veterans, movement leaders, pastors, farmers, artists, and social media influencers.  The main rally is set for November 22 on the National Mall, with live performances most notably by the Dropkick Murphys and a March on Congress.  The first days involve direct lobbying of Congress (beginning November 20) and a veteran’s rally (on November 21).  While the event includes entertainment, the organizers emphasize its serious political mission: to “change history” by pressing for constitutional removal of Trump.

Analyst Comments: Large demonstrations draw big crowds, moving groups, and heightened emotions. From a safety and situational-awareness standpoint, participants and bystanders should prepare the same way they would for any major public gathering. It’s important to know the planned routes, timing, and gathering points so you can avoid chokepoints and stay oriented. Always have a communication plan with your, keep valuables secured, and carry essentials like water, portable chargers, and basic first-aid items. Stay aware of your surroundings, watch for crowd surges, sudden changes in mood, or individuals behaving unusually. Identify exits, open spaces, and nearby safe locations such as businesses or public buildings. If counter-protests or heavy police presence develop, create physical distance early rather than waiting for tensions to rise. Finally, document what you need for your own safety but avoid escalating interactions, and follow all instructions from law enforcement and event organizers. These steps help ensure that anyone attending or passing through the area can stay safe, informed, and prepared.
