Update to Earlier Faith-Based Security Headlines
U.S. Nurse and Her Child Released by Kidnappers in Haiti
An American nurse and her child were released nearly two weeks after they were kidnapped in Haiti. She works with El Roi Haiti, a Christian education ministry in Haiti.
“It is with a heart of gratitude and immense joy that we at El Roi Haiti confirm the safe release of our staff member and friend, Alix Dorsainvil and her child who were held hostage in Port au Prince, Haiti,” the group said in a message on its website. “Today we are praising God for answered prayer!”
Alix Dorsainvil, a community health nurse married to the group’s founder and director, Sandro Dorsainvil, and the pair’s child, were kidnapped last month from the group’s location near Port-au-Prince.
Analyst Comment:
While the El Roi incident had a happy ending, all Faith-Based Organizations (FBO) should be aware of foreign risks while planning for oversees work. Groups abroad should have plans if situations deteriorate.
As was posted earlier in the DAP, the U. S. Department of State has travel advisories for all countries which can be found at Travel Advisories (state.gov).
Information about planning safer foreign travel and what to do in an emergency abroad can be found at International Travel (state.gov).
