Mapped: the 37 cities where anti-ICE protests have erupted across the US

ICE agents arrested a Spanish-speaking individual in a church parking lot in Downey, Los Angeles, sparking outrage over enforcement actions at sensitive locations like houses of worship. Though ICE typically avoids such sites, this incident has raised alarm among faith leaders and immigrant advocates. The arrest comes amid broader ICE raids under President Trump that began in L.A., including the detention of a pregnant U.S. citizen, igniting protests in cities like Paramount and Compton. The federal response deploying 2,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines—has drawn legal challenges from state leaders and sparked nationwide demonstrations in over 30 cities. As tensions rise, the situation has evolved into a national protest movement against aggressive immigration policies and federal overreach.

Analyst Comments: The recent ICE arrest at a Los Angeles church and the broader wave of immigration-related protests highlights the need for heightened situational awareness and preparedness during civil unrest. Individuals in affected areas should monitor reliable news, follow official advisories, and avoid protest zones, as even peaceful gatherings can escalate. Having emergency plans, charged devices, and go-bags ready is advised. Civil unrest often arises from layered grievances and can attract counter-groups or bad actors, increasing risk. Religious institutions should strengthen safety protocols, training staff, installing cameras, and coordinating with authorities while maintaining their role as community sanctuaries. FB-ISAO is aware of some recent threats related to ongoing civil unrest, and those details will be shared in a separate alert with members later today.

CSU Extended Range Forecast of Atlantic Seasonal Hurricane Activity and Landfall Strike Probability for 2025

Yesterday, Colorado State University released their latest Atlantic hurricane outlook forecast, still predicting an above‑average season. They estimate approximately 17 named storms (compared to the 1991–2020 average of 14.4), including nine hurricanes (vs. 7.2) and four major hurricanes (vs. 3.2), with total Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) around 155 (normal is 123) and Net Tropical Cyclone activity at 165% of the long-term average. The probabilities of at least one major hurricane landfall are elevated: 51% for the entire U.S. coast, 26% for the East Coast (including Florida peninsula), and 33% for the Gulf Coast each exceeding their long-period averages. Additionally, there is a 56% chance of a major hurricane tracking through the Caribbean, significantly above the historical mean. Climate factors shaping this active outlook include warm sea surface temperatures in the tropical Atlantic and a neutral-to-weak La Niña condition expected during the peak season both of which tend to reduce wind shear and favor storm development. CSU emphasizes that coastal residents should prepare thoroughly, as it only takes one landfall to make a season destructive

Analyst Comments: The CSU forecast raises important considerations for emergency planners, businesses, and coastal residents. With above-average storm activity expected including a heightened probability of major hurricanes striking the U.S. and Caribbean this season presents increased risks to life, property, and infrastructure. Organizations should prioritize early preparedness by reviewing continuity plans, verifying insurance coverage, and ensuring emergency supplies are in place. Critical infrastructure operators and healthcare facilities, especially in vulnerable coastal zones, should reassess surge capacity and backup power resources. Communication protocols must be updated to maintain situational awareness and streamline coordination with local authorities. As sea surface temperatures remain warm and atmospheric conditions support storm formation, this outlook serves as a strong reminder: hurricane preparedness is essential.
