FB-ISAO Announces Partnership with ZeroNow
On 23 March 2022, the Faith-Based Information Sharing and Analysis Organization (FB-ISAO) joined the ZeroNow Community as a partner organization. ZeroNow is the movement by the safety community to end harmful events in schools.
This partnership is especially poignant given the recent mass shooting incident at the Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee. FB-ISAO members were actively sharing information about the incident soon after the incident occurred but more importantly, they continue to analyze the information available in order to glean best practices related to preparedness. FB-ISAO hosts a dedicated channel for the sharing of school safety information on our collaborative workspace. The community is encouraged to attend a School Safety Seminar at Stony Brook University. The seminar will address over 20 years of research by the U.S. Secret Service National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) on the thinking and behaviors of those who commit acts of targeted school violence in an effort to prevent future acts from occurring. To continue to inform of these efforts, the U.S. Secret Service National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) will present on the findings and recommendations from its latest study, Averting Targeted School Violence: A U.S. Secret Service Analysis of Plots Against Schools. This study analyzed 67 disrupted school plots targeting K-12 schools from 2006-2018 that were thwarted through the efforts of school personnel, law enforcement, or others.
Members of FB-ISAO can join ZeroNow to participate alongside members of the ZeroNow Community (at no cost for the first year and $100 per year for every year thereafter.) FB-ISAO has joined the nonprofits, technology innovators, education institutions, students and individual advocates that make up the ZeroNow alliance, bringing experience augmenting technology solutions with information sharing and analytical reporting to keep houses of worship and faith-based schools safe. While our strength is in information sharing and analytical reporting, that when combined, provide members with information, analysis, and capabilities to help reduce risk while enhancing preparedness, security, and resilience. Joining forces with a technology focused community seems like a natural partnership. The members of FB-ISAO will benefit from access to the ZeroNow Community which is focused on innovation to drive safety in schools and houses of worship.
