Faith-Based Daily Awareness Post 15 October 2024

Faith-Based Security Headlines

These updates are shared to help raise the situational awareness of Faith-Based organizations to best defend against and mitigate the impacts from all-hazards threats including physical security, cybersecurity, and natural disasters.

Top 20 Most Common Types Of Cyber Attacks

From the Fortinet post:

cyber attack refers to an action designed to target a computer or any element of a computerized information system to change, destroy, or steal data, as well as exploit or harm a network. Cyber attacks have been on the rise, in sync with the digitization of business that has become more and more popular in recent years.

While there are dozens of different types of attacks, the list of cyber attacks includes the 20 most common examples.

The Fortinet post provides a short description of the top 20 most common types of cybersecurity attacks.

Analyst Comments:

Many Faith-Based Organizations (FBO) do not have robust cybersecurity teams. Reviewing the most common types of cybersecurity attacks can assist an FBO in understanding the cyberthreats it faces. An FBO can also increase its ability to avoid an attack and improve resilience if one occurs.
